Bridging research and practice to support complex trauma exposed young people: Where to from here?
In 2006 Prof Essau initiated the International Conference on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology (ICCAP) to promote the study, prevention and treatment of mental disorders and disabilities among children and adolescents.
The ICCAP is an annual 3-day event that takes place in July at Whitelands College, University of Roehampton in South West London. Each year, ICCAP attracts academics and practitioners from 40 countries to discuss state-of-the-art research on various aspects of child and adolescent psychopathology. Delegates include: Researchers, practitioners and policy makers working within youth health and mental health, paediatrics, public health, nursing, education, social work, and youth justice systems.
Building on its success in London, Sarawak Government and Sarawak Convention Bureau had supported ICCAP to bring experts in children and youth health to Kuching (on Borneo Island), Malaysia in August 2018 and in August 2023. The ICCAP2018 and ICCAP2023 were each attended by approximately 700 delegates.
